As a not for profit community radio station using Twitter for the first time, what is the single most vital ingredient to having a roaringly successful twitter campaign?

    Consistent participation

Can you provide a service whereby I can find like-minded people or people sharing my interests or profession on Twitter by typing relevant keywords and then hitting search?
  • Carolyn Clark · 6 months ago
To make tweet experience better have a big red star at the beginning of all auto generated spam-a tweets or tweet generated by auto generator or limit these ding darn dweebs to one auto tweet per hour or maybe per day
  • Julie Foster · 6 months ago
I read in the Time article that Twitter has evolved largely because of the innovative ways that users are creatively using it (i.e. creating hashtags, etc). Do you feel there are negative consequences to giving up so much "control" to the users of a program? If so, what are they and how would you reign things in?

Why Twitter Doesn't Show Threads Of Discussions Effectively, Don't You Think Thats THE Ultimate experience everyone are looking at? #ilovemrtweet

Two things to make Twitter better:

    1. Show when friends are online.
    2. Respond to emails for help/account problems timely.

What one thing would you say about Twitter to someone who regularly participates in online discussions but doesn't "get" Twitter?
  • Carol Corsetti · 6 months ago
I would ask for a siple 'HOW TO' page on the website. eg. How to RT how to mutiple copy etc. Quick amd straightforward answers to the everyday workings of TW. For instance right now,How do you make you avatar green?
  • Karen Hochman · 6 months ago
This may not be the "best question," but it's a serious one to improve the user experience of very active Tweeters: Can you add a feature that lets us search our own accounts/posts for keywords or other ways to find items previously posted? When you make several posts daily and are trying to find something you previously referred to, need to know if you posted an item previously, etc., it's like scrolling to find a needle in an enormously tall haystack. Over time, this will become a bigger problem for more and more people.

Stephen Fry had recommended a site that does just that, sadly I can't remember its name but ask him, I would x x

My question: The Twitter service has largely been the same since it's inception, how do you plan to do to innovate so other companies don't pass you by?
  • Tiago Pereira · 6 months ago
I would ask: What's in the future for Twitter?
  • Corvida Raven · 6 months ago
I think everyone wants to know the answer to that. That's not solely up to Twitter though, the community will get to decide in the end by either moving on or sticking around :)
  • mherman31 · 6 months ago
People want to be a part of something bigger that's local enough to truly be "around them." Could you ever see a Twitter sub-product based on geographic locations (Twitter Chicago, Twitter California)?

Twitter can do this to a degree at this point, but just as 'CSI: Miami' allows that particular show to do things 'CSI: NY' doesn't, an intentional product targeting locals would encourage more Tweet-ups, more offline relationship-building coming out of your online product.
  • digliberry · 6 months ago
When are you going to make it easier to RT so I don't have to use external applications such as Tweetdeck? Copying, pasting and typing RT at the beginning of a tweet is so cumbersome.
  • Corvida Raven · 6 months ago
If you're using Firefox, there's a greasemonkey script that will place a RT button on the Twitter page. It's not the most portable solution, but it helps if you're home and don't want to use a desktop client.

You can check it out here - http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/26500

What have been the greatest surprises of seeing how people are using Twitter (one positive, one negative)?
  • bonnibelle · 6 months ago
Love Twitter! Would like to know if when I tweet someone how do they know I made a comment to them unless they are following me?
  • Corvida Raven · 6 months ago
Just make sure to use the @username anywhere in the tweet and it should show up in their replies when they check them. A follow relationship is not necessary to see the tweets as long as you direct it at that person.

Do you have a "Holy Grail" goal to attain that may or may not be realistic in your mind today? What is it?
  • Brenda · 6 months ago
My question is why Brittany Fu---ed Vids and Your Horney Kitty keeps appearing as a follower even though I've blocked this individual numerous times. Why can't Twitter trace ISP and permanently block vulgar pornographic preditors who are obviously bottom-feeders of society?
And finally, what is the "BLock" feature for it can't protect legitimate twitter users from the nuisance of repeat violators of twitter rules?
  • SisterSledge · 6 months ago
I would ask "Why not take a survey from Twitterers to learn what features are currently valued and what improvements/changes we'd want in future?"
  • mherman31 · 6 months ago
Celebrities are more than just those people in Hollywood, they're also people in industries, circles of friends, geographically-based, and others who are huge in one person's world (e.g., scientists, lawyers, politicians) but are "nobodies" to others. My question is, how are you planning on taking advantage of the 'celebrity-Twitterers' trend that should have legs well into the future? Perhaps a "Twitter Groups" product ever surface (above & beyond the typical "following" of others) to segment like-minded people into areas of uber-interests?

If I unfollow someone they should be notified!
  • Paula · 6 months ago
Hi, Love Twitter! But would find it really helpful if when I clicked on an @name in my twitter feed that it would come up on a separate page ( like the urls do) so that I would not loose the spot I was at. This would definitely improve my twitter experience, thanks!

  • elemcee · 6 months ago
I realize the 140 char limit is, well, limiting, but can't there be a way to reply to someone and let them know to which of their tweets you're replying? As is, sometimes you can receive a reply days after your initial tweet and have no idea what your correspondent is talking about!
  • Kevin Federline · 6 months ago
My question would be: How come you can not stop those Brittney morons by now?
  • jigarme · 6 months ago
When will twitter start sending notification mails/dm on somebody un-follow!! Twitter has become more of a noise these days where automated systems which follows people for couple of hours and un-follow them automatically just to increase follower count!
  • Angelique · 6 months ago
My question: What should someone (in this case, my daughter) do if a spammer took her email address and used it to sign up for Twitter? I've written to Twitter several times and never received a response. How am I going to recommend Twitter to social-networking-newbie clients if I cannot get a response from Twitter about a situation involving my own kid?
  • dianadamico · 6 months ago
I AGREE!!!! WE NEED HELP, FROM THESE HORRIBLE PEOPLE WHO WILL NOT LEAVE US ALONE EVEN AFTER WE BLOCK THEM. THEY SHOW UP THE NEXT DAY. IT'S MADE ME WANT TO QUIT TWITTER BECAUSE OF BEING HARASSED BY LOWLIFE ACCOUNTS!! I HAVE ASKED TWITTER AND THOSE FOLLOWING ME HOW CAN I GET THEIR ISP AND TURN THEM INTO THE POLICE. I'M VERY OFFENDED BY THESE PEOPLE AND DO NOT WANT THE GOOD PEOPLE FOLLOWING ME THAT I HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THEM!!!
  • dianadamico · 6 months ago
I would like to know if you would seriously consider adding 10 more char. to our already 140 char? So many times I only need 10 more just so that I can make it clear on what I need to say. Your a tad short & it would be so helpful if you could just raise the limit up by 10 char. please, please, PLEASE!! Thank you.. =)

I would like to know if you can add a very important feature to twitter. Is it possible to add where the owner of the account has to approve comments from people we are NOT following? This would avoid having unkind or unnecessary comments being posted for the world to see, before we have a chance to see it. It would save on harrashment cases, or people who are unkind and unthinking of the harm they cause others. Please consider this, Thank you,
    DD

What can I do to help keep Twitter oriented toward core (conversational) principles instead of a monetized behemoth mingling among GoOgle and its ilk?
  • cweng · 6 months ago
Let's say I'm following a lot of people. There's no way I can keep up with all of their tweets on one feed. Will you include a filter like Facebook that lets me organize who I'm following into categories?
  • Corvida Raven · 6 months ago
Great question, but Twitter seems to be leaving that up to the clients to sort out. Try TweetDeck or Mixero for groupings. Peoplebrowsr might be a good one if you're interested in a web client.
  • Pat Drummond · 6 months ago
How can I read my 3 twitter accounts into news feeds?
  • Corvida Raven · 6 months ago
You can always grab the RSS feed of each account and add them into your RSS reader, or if you're familiar with Yahoo! Pipes, you can combine each feed into a single feed.
  • Dolphin2ii · 6 months ago
When would you add a french version of your site and program?
  • Brian Reich · 6 months ago
Do you think that the people who are driving a lot of the attention around Twitter - politicians, celebrities, etc. - are actually doing more harm than good (in the sense that they see it as just another broadcast-style promotion channel, another way to promote themselves, and not the kind of true, discussion-focused, engagement opportunity that Twitter was designed to support)?

While there was a status announcement a few hours ago alluding to an "Improving following and follower infrastructure" bit.ly/5XwM8, overwhelming the single greatest need is an ability to implement threads. There are two avenues to accomplish this: 1) to enable group building so one can follow a thread by user name(s) and 2) through the use of hashtags or keywords so one can follow by subject. I'd like to see both avenues realized. Ideally, I'd like the ability with the second avenue to permit following long tail keyword phrases rather than be burdened by limitations imposed with single word tagging whether that be with hashtags or a third party app's cloud tagging. Please see Chris Anderson's blog, http://www.longtail.com and book by the same title for a full explanation of the importance of the long tail to achieve contextually relevant search results.

  • Patrick Vanhoucke · 6 months ago
I think the Twitter experience could improve by re-introducing the reception of tweets as text messages on your cell phone.
  • Kathryn Aldrich · 5 months ago
How were you able to take the basic idea of twitter and turn it into something where people can tweet from their phones or iPods? Therecare so many tweet apps that one can download and tweet from, and all tweets appear on the main twitter homepage. How were you able to make that possible?
